February/March Round Up

What I read…

  • Greenlights, Matthew McConaughey
  • Little Secrets, Jennifer Hillier
  • BSF Matthew Study
  • Gentle & Lowly: The Heart of Christ for Sinners, by Dane C. Ortlund

I am doing terribly at updating my blog and actually keeping track of what I read! I need the library to have a list of what I’ve checked out and read because I truly don’t remember but I know I’ve been reading! I don’t know that I actually completed 4 fiction books and 2 non fiction books in February and March. But February is a shorter month & March was really a wild time for us so that should count…. right? I read Little Secrets & Greenlights SUPER fast. To me- that means they are really great & worth reading! I am at a standstill right now with Gentle & Lowly. Need some accountability there!

What I listened to…

When the Bengals were in the Superbowl in February, we obviously were cheering and watching them, wanting them to win! BUT, theres also coverage on the other team… and the other teams QB, and the other teams QB’s wife. The good news is that Matthew Stafford seems like a really good guy, and his wife, Kelly is HILARIOUS. She is super active on social media & has her own podcast that she puts out weekly. I have LOVED listening to it on my drives to and from schools for work! She keeps it very real, and she is a girl mom of 4, and has some hilarious stories!

I have my own personal Spotify playlist where I add my favorite “oldies” songs. I think the classic rock influence was given to me through my Dad. I remember putting on a Carol King CD and dancing on our “stage” (my raised fireplace hearth) to “I feel the Earth move.” SO- I try to expose my children to as many oldies as possible. They actually each have their own “song,” AND they know the words and how to request it. So take that, current pop music world!! For those wondering…Sutton’s song is “September,” and Sloane’s is “Saturday in the Park”

Recipes I tried…

No, we are not doing Whole 30. We tried to do it way back in like 2016, and I always refer to it as a “Whole 10” because we only made it 10 days before caving. I like cream in my coffee, sue me. However, we are attempting a lower carb, keto-ish, more intentional way of eating in this season. Dave is gluten free (not by choice), so a lot of Whole 30 recipes can be adjusted to fit the mold there. The BLT chicken salad was great to make on a Sunday & use for easy lunches. I highly recommend making the philly cheese steak skillet with real cheese because I’m not a monster!

What I’m watching…

Last round up, I shared I was watching the How I Met Your Father reboot… but I actually quit watching. Hello, I’m Corinne and my toxic trait is that I will watch a few episodes (or seasons) of a show and then never actually finish. Still haven’t finished the last two episodes of Ted Lasso?! What is wrong with me???

However… I am happy to report I have not one but TWO shows I am watching!

I LOVE competition cooking shows. My absolute most favorite is TOP CHEF! I am not even really a foodie. I just love watching people make food. I also love making food, but with the time I have with a 4 year old, 2 year old, a job, and ministry, I am not really making chef-quality meals 🙂

Dave and I got back into Survivor during Covid-lockdown times thanks to Paramount Plus and having nothing to do. We are liking this season (42) more than last falls season (41). Dave really wants to go on Survivor. I told him he needs a better sob story to get on…. so we will be working on that.

What I bought…

  • Mirabele & Isabella Dresses We love Encanto. We love singing the songs, we love watching the movie, we love dressing up. This purchase was a bribe to get Sloane to go pee pee on the potty….and it worked!!! No more diapers!!! Woo!!! Well worth the $20 in my humble opinion.

What about you? Any books, shows or podcast suggestions? Any recipes you’ve loved? Any purchases you’ve absolutely loved? Anything else I should include? Let me know in the comments!
